Blake also highlighted opportunities related to upcoming regional events such as the World Cup and Olympics.
On staff updates, interim community development director Ron Garcia and other staff listed several city events: a food distribution Dec. 5 at Rec Park (11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.), the holiday tree lighting Dec. 6 at the San Fernando Mall (5–9 p.m.), the Valley Economic Alliance meeting Dec. 11 (5:30 p.m., Council Chambers), Foodzilla on Dec. 13 in front of City Hall (5–9 p.m.), and a city employee holiday luncheon Dec. 10. Staff also announced City Hall will be closed to the public Dec. 25 through Jan. 5.

No formal actions related to these announcements were taken beyond the listed event scheduling.
