Kalispell swears in new council, elects Kyle Waterman as council president

The oath of office was administered to new council members Kyle Waterman, Lisa Blank and Wes Walker, returning council member Jed Fisher and to newly elected Mayor Ryan Hunter.
Council members and staff used opening remarks to thank outgoing members for years of service and to welcome the incoming officials. Waterman placed his name for council president, declined to vote on his own nomination, and—after a motion and second—was elected by voice vote. The council then approved the meeting agenda and moved into a packed action docket.
The reorganization finished with brief procedural discussion about the process for filling the currently vacant Ward 3 seat; staff said the council could hear candidate presentations at a Jan. 12 work session or consider appointment at the Jan. 20 meeting. The city manager also flagged the draft parks master plan for review at the next meeting.
