"Everything here...majority of this here really focuses on indoor air quality," an administrator said, noting roofing repairs at multiple schools and an HVAC evaluation that state mandate requires. The administration urged the board to put all needs forward for initial review so the district and town can coordinate which projects each will carry forward.
On a separate line the board discussed district‑wide clock replacement, estimated conservatively at about $75,000, to unify failing clocks and avoid frequent manual resets for daylight‑saving changes. An operations official said the pilot will use Wi‑Fi‑managed analog clocks to balance cost and functionality.
The radio upgrade was described as a multi‑year project. Administration said partial funding exists and FY27 request seeks an additional $120,000 toward an approximately $350,000 total. Officials clarified the school district's radio upgrade is independent from a state public‑safety encryption project and that earlier partial funding was intended as a down payment.
Board members asked whether major facility items (for example, Hess renovations or middle‑school needs) should wait until the town's broader facilities plan is finalized; administration said some items can be deferred but urged transparency about all needs so decisions can be made in coordination with town leaders.
The board scheduled a facilities meeting and a Jan. 14 public budget forum to continue the discussion.
