Leavenworth County Commissioner Michael says he will not seek reelection

"I am not seeking reelection to the Leavenworth County Commission," Michael said, and thanked his colleagues and department staff for their work. He highlighted county accomplishments during his tenure, including infrastructure work he said amounted to more than $100 million in roads, bridges and other improvements, work with CARES Act and ARPA funds, the passage of an outbuilding tax exemption after a multi‑year effort, and the county’s COVID‑era decisions.
Michael also acknowledged an intern, Cody Reynolds, and publicly endorsed him. Cody Reynolds later spoke during public comment to thank the board and Commissioner Stephen for his endorsement.
Michael closed by thanking residents and staff for the opportunity to serve and said he will leave the commission when his term ends in January next year.
