Board approves 2026 meeting schedule; members press for stronger Facebook posting

The Douglas Unified School District board approved its regular 2026 meeting schedule after a motion from a board member and a roll-call vote. Board members recorded affirmative votes during roll call and the motion carried.
Ms. Semenigo told the board the schedule is posted on the district website and at the district front entrance. She said regular meetings will generally be on the first Tuesday of each month, with November shifted to a Wednesday because of Election Day.
During discussion, a board member asked about the district’s Facebook presence and whether meeting notices and other information are posted there. Ms. Semenigo and district staff responded that each school maintains a Facebook account typically managed by a principal or school secretary, and that the district Facebook account is managed centrally: “Alma is in charge of that and she links it and posts anything on their schools facebook pages too,” she said. Staff encouraged more regular posting to increase outreach.
The board approved the schedule by roll call; no changes to meeting locations, posting practices or additional resources for communications were adopted at the meeting.
