Crown Point celebrates Tour of Lights and Christmas-on-the-Square winners

The Crown Point City Council opened its Jan. 5 meeting with community recognitions for two holiday events: the city’s Tour of Lights and the Christmas-on-the-Square tree contest.
Diana, who presented the awards, said the Tour of Lights included 12 homes on the official map and that tickets for the trolley tour sold out quickly. She named several decorated addresses and announced the Tour of Lights winner as 210 Northwest Street (the Guzman family). "This year's winner is 210 Northwest Street, the Guzman family," Diana said.
The council also announced results of the Christmas-on-the-Square tree contest, which featured about 119 trees around the square. Third- and second-place winners were recognized and the council named the first-place tree "in memory of Kennedy DeMarco." A family member at the meeting described Kennedy as "the sweetest, sassiest 3 year old" and said decorating the tree helped honor her memory.
Presenters thanked the courthouse foundation, library and event volunteers for organizing the events. The council applauded community participation and congratulated winners.
The presentations emphasized broad community engagement in Crown Point’s seasonal events and will be part of the municipal record for the Jan. 5 meeting.
