Saratoga County supervisors elect Philip Barrett chair and Ian Murray vice chair for 2026

Supervisor Taliesin nominated Barrett for chair and Supervisor Butler seconded the motion. The clerk conducted a roll call; Barrett abstained from his own election, Supervisor Peck voted No, and the motion passed by roll call. County Clerk Craig Hader administered the oath to Barrett after the vote.
Barrett thanked colleagues and family after his swearing-in. “We spent $3,000,000 on a new piece of property, for that shelter,” Barrett said while outlining priorities he expects the board to pursue this year.
The board also elected Ian Murray as vice chair. A supervisor from the town of Saratoga nominated Murray and Supervisor Brennan seconded. Murray accepted and was sworn in by the county clerk.
The meeting began with the naming of Joe Grasso as temporary chair to preside over organizational business until officers were elected. After leadership elections and oaths, Barrett said committee assignments would be circulated in the coming days.
The meeting concluded after the board completed routine organizational business, including the adoption of a package of resolutions and the chair’s distribution of appointment lists.
