Planning Commission approves minutes and fills officer posts; council to reappoint member

The Jefferson County Planning Commission on Jan. 6, 2026, approved its Oct. 7, 2025, meeting minutes and filled officer positions for the coming year, electing Larry Wynne as vice president and Taylor as secretary, the presiding officer (Speaker 1) said during the organizational meeting.

The vote to adopt the minutes followed a motion and second; the presiding officer called for a voice vote and recorded the outcome as in favor. The commission then opened nominations for the president and closed nominations after a motion and second; a voice vote followed. On the vice president nomination, Speaker 1 moved to nominate Larry Wynne for the post and the motion received a second before the commission approved the nomination by voice vote. For secretary, Speaker 1 nominated Taylor, a motion was seconded, and the commission again approved by voice vote.

Speaker 1 also told the commission that the county council has not yet reappointed one member but expects to do so at the next council meeting. "They haven't yet, but they will next meeting," Speaker 1 said, noting that the anticipated reappointment of "Mr. Black" will address that item.

The meeting also noted an open vacancy on the planning commission that the commissioners are continuing to fill; Speaker 1 said the commissioners are soliciting recommendations and hope to have an appointment by the next board meeting.
