The Marquette County human services director reported multiple staffing moves and a department-wide rollout of an AI phone system intended to improve caller routing and provide texted information. The director said a child-welfare social worker started the same day, there is a pending offer for a CCS case manager, and recruitment continues for a therapist.
The director described the AI phone system as reducing transfers to a receptionist and enabling callers to request texted information or be routed directly to the appropriate program. Staff said the system supports multiple languages and that staff monitor transcripts and transfer logs daily to refine responses, although some callers still prefer to speak with a person.
Veterans services reported closing 18 cases since the last meeting, ongoing work on roughly 100 cases and selection of a new assistant CVSO, Brian Gingrich, an Air Force retiree who lives in the county and is expected to start later in the month. Staff also noted the VA is piloting home-based primary care and improvements to the veterans employment program (VR&E).
