The West Covina City Council on Jan. 6 introduced an ordinance (first reading) to adopt by reference the 2026 Los Angeles County Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Residential and Existing Building Codes.
Council moved to place the ordinance for first reading so the public and council can review the final text prior to a second reading and adoption at a subsequent meeting. Staff noted a copy of the updated ordinance had been placed on the dais and in the front lobby for public review and that the website had been updated with the attachment.
The council approved the first reading by roll call vote 5–0. A second hearing and a vote on adoption will be scheduled at a later meeting, per standard procedure for code adoptions.
