The Gilbert Town Council unanimously selected Councilmember Chuck Bongiovanni as vice mayor for 2026 during its Jan. 6 regular meeting.

Mayor Scott Anderson opened nominations for the one-year vice mayor position and a councilmember nominated Bongiovanni, a motion that was seconded. The appointment was decided by voice vote and carried unanimously.

The council recessed briefly afterward so members could switch seats and nameplates. The meeting then continued with proclamations and presentations scheduled on the agenda.
