At its Jan. 5 meeting, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council approved several routine and administrative items in unanimous votes.
Consent agenda: The council passed a consent package that included multiple resolutions extending local emergency declarations for Tropical Storm Debbie (Res. 26-001–26-004), Hurricane Helene (Res. 26-005–26-008) and Hurricane Milton (Res. 26-009–26-012). The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Councilor King and carried without objection.
Tyler Technologies contract: The council approved Resolution 25-355, incorporating an attachment to the second addendum into the Tyler Technologies contract to streamline record-keeping and make the contract a single document; staff stated the change is ministerial and does not alter the substance of the previously approved terms. The motion was moved by Councilor King and seconded by Vice Mayor Safford and carried unanimously.
Special event permit: The council approved the Fort Myers Beach Women’s Club application for the 14th annual Putt and Pub Crawl on Jan. 17, 2026, with conditions including open-container controls and signage requirements. Councilors moved and seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Other votes: Council authorized Amendment No. 5 to the SRF loan (see separate article) and voted to allow Councilor King to attend the meeting virtually earlier in the session. No roll-call dissent was recorded in the public transcript excerpts; votes were recorded by voice and indicated as unanimous.
