The Steele County Park Board voted to place Tim in the interim superintendent position at Grade 18 Step 9 and approved a retroactive pay adjustment. Staff presented pay figures: a proposed starting hourly rate of $32.79 with a projected increase to $33.45 in 2026; when a permanent superintendent is hired Tim would revert to Grade 10 Step 11 (about $30.10 per hour). A staff estimate mentioned roughly $531 in retroactive pay owed under the proposal.
The motion to implement the interim pay arrangement was made by Chris, seconded by Perry, and carried by voice vote. Board members also discussed recruiting for the permanent position, including whether to advertise salary or hourly and whether to preference residents; they asked staff to draft a job posting for board review and suggested advertising on Facebook and in regional papers to reach a wider pool of applicants.
Board members emphasized the interim arrangement does not preclude Tim from applying for the permanent position; the board asked staff to return with a job description and final recruitment plan.
