Interim Town Manager Lisa Fraser told the commission that the three showers — two in the men's locker area and one in the women's — had been gutted while staff and contractors tried to find and fix an ongoing leak. "On the agenda this evening is the city hall and fire department showers," Fraser said, and she told the commission the town had three proposals before it and $30,000 available in contingency funds to cover the work.
Commission discussion centered on the completeness and scope of the three bids, contractor licensing and insurance, and a materials debate between prefabricated fiberglass surrounds and a tiled rebuild. One commissioner said the Sun Plumbing quote appeared incomplete and noted that the prefab option offered by Sun Plumbing and Expedition Roofing is less expensive but may not provide adequate reinforcement. Another commissioner summarized research indicating some fiberglass surrounds are rated for about 300 pounds and "would not be the standard that we would want," arguing the tile option offered by LH Tanner would better support routine use by staff.
Fraser told the commission that if part of the work (such as furring or build‑out) was excluded from a plumbing bid, public works could perform that portion; she also said staff would verify contractor insurance and follow up on whether previous work had been covered by insurance. The commission heard that the immediate pipe leak feeding the showers had been corrected; Fraser confirmed the town had paid roughly $5,000 to address the leak earlier.
After discussion, a commissioner moved to accept LH Tanner Construction Corporation's bid in the amount of $25,527; the motion was seconded and carried 5–0. The commission instructed staff to retain records and photographs of the backer board and work performed to preserve warranty evidence in case of future problems.
The meeting ended after the adjournment motion passed; the town expects the contractor to proceed under the terms approved by the commission.
