Kate Kaneta elected chair of Danbury School District policy committee

Kate Kaneta was elected chair of the Danbury School District policy committee after a motion by Juanita and a second from Gladys, which passed by voice vote. After being sworn in as committee chair, Kaneta asked for a volunteer to take minutes; Wanya agreed to serve in that role.

The committee immediately began a mid-review of the district’s 5000-series policies for students, following a CAVE audit that compares existing district language with proposed updates. Kelly, district staff, told members the packet shows current policies on the left and recommended revisions on the right and that four student policies would be discussed that evening.

The committee handled routine meeting logistics and confirmed that earlier access issues to the agenda were corrected, noting Cara Pompeano helped restore visibility to the shared documents. The meeting then moved to substantive policy reviews and votes.
