Summary
At the Jan. 5 reorganization meeting, Crafton Borough Council elected John Oliverio as council president, selected Kirsten Conpitello as vice president and approved a slate of administrative appointments including solicitor Babst Calland, Gateway Engineers and Jim Price as borough manager.
Crafton Borough held its 2026 reorganization meeting on Jan. 5, where the newly sworn council elected John Oliverio as council president and approved a series of routine administrative appointments and the borough’s meeting schedule.
John Oliverio won the council presidency after a nomination and roll-call vote. “Thank you, everybody. Very much humbled and appreciated,” Oliverio said after the vote. Council also elected Kirsten Conpitello as vice president and chose Mike Hove as president pro tempore.
Council confirmed a set of professional and administrative appointments that the borough customarily reviews every two years. The council appointed Babst Calland as the borough solicitor (a spelling correction for the firm name was noted on the record), Gateway Engineers as the borough engineer of record, and Jim Price as borough manager. The council also designated Huntington Bank as the borough’s official depository and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as the official newspaper for legal notices and advertisements.
Public-safety and administrative roles were among the appointments: the volunteer fire department was reaffirmed as the borough fire department, Mike Hove was confirmed as fire chief, DJ Glancy was appointed borough fire marshal and Dave Morgan as assistant fire marshal. Richard Ford was named emergency management coordinator; Ford described prior experience with large-scale emergencies and said he plans to pursue further training.
Financial and administrative officers were also approved: Annette Lieber as borough treasurer, Karisma Kearns as borough secretary and Mauer Bessel as borough auditor for the next two years. The consent agenda — including bill lists and Dec. 11 meeting minutes — was approved by motion.
Council confirmed its regular meeting schedule for the next two years: second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m., to be held at the Crafton Borough Municipal Building/Community Center. Several appointments were approved by roll call; one appointment recorded an abstention on the record.
The reorganization meeting focused on establishing leadership and administrative continuity. The council moved into new business after the appointments and approved the consent agenda before hearing community comments later in the meeting.
