Cannon Falls council approves consent agenda, accepts $10,000 donation and ratifies 2026 appointments

The Cannon Falls City Council approved its Jan. 6 agenda and moved through a consent agenda that included administrative items and two resolutions, one of which accepted a $10,000 donation to the fire department.
The presiding official opened the meeting and, after a roll call, the council unanimously approved the agenda and then the consent agenda. The consent list included: the accounting period ending Dec. 30, 2025; December meeting minutes; designation of the official newspaper for 2026; Resolution 2853, designating depositories for city funds for fiscal year 2025; approval of statutory tort limits; and Resolution 2854, accepting a $10,000 donation from the Donald and Margaret Anderson Foundation.
Councilmember Chris moved to approve the consent agenda; Councilmember Lisa seconded the motion, which the council carried.
The council also considered its annual appointments for 2026. Chad Johnson requested to remain on the cable commission and will replace Ryan on that body. The presiding official thanked Jesse Fox for his service on the planning commission and said that a planning-commission seat and a citizen spot on the cable commission remain open; interested members of the public were asked to apply at City Hall. A motion to approve the 2026 appointments was made and carried by the council.
The council ended regular business after brief reports and adjourned for the evening.
