The Tinley Park Village Board adopted Ordinance 2026‑O‑004 on Jan. 6 granting a variation from the zoning ordinance to permit a two‑level garage addition at 16801 Sayer Avenue (referred to in the meeting as the Mahoney Garage) that exceeds the maximum accessory‑structure floor area.
Trustee Miller described the request and said the plan commission previously held hearings and voted 5–0 to recommend approval in accordance with staff‑recommended conditions and findings of fact. Trustee Miller stated, "The requested variation permits a garage that exceeds maximum accessory structure floor area." During the board roll call, Trustee Mahoney recorded an abstention and Trustee Mueller voted no; other trustees voted yes and the motion carried.
The garage addition was reported as already under construction. The board did not record additional public comment on the item at the meeting. The ordinance will be implemented subject to the conditions listed in the staff report and plan commission findings.
