Temecula Planning Commission keeps Turley Trejo as chair, names Hagel vice chair and finalizes subcommittee rosters

The Temecula Planning Commission retained Linnae Turley Trejo as its chair and appointed Commissioner Bob Hagel as vice chair for 2026 in a pair of unanimous votes on the first meeting of the year.

The moves were made with an eye toward continuity, commissioners said, as the city undertakes a major General Plan update. Turley Trejo was nominated to remain chair and the motion passed 5-0. Hagel was nominated for vice chair and his appointment also carried on a 5-0 vote.

Commissioners then reviewed and approved the commission’s subcommittee roster, filling vacancies left by a departing member. The approved assignments cover more than a dozen standing and ad hoc groups, including Altair, Butterfield/Temecula Parkway, commercial centers, the general plan update advisory work, hospital and human‑services subcommittees, infill, Linfield (Linfield Christian School), municipal code maintenance, Old Town Temecula, Promenade Mall, Serafina, short‑term rentals, Summers Bend, Temecula Village, Town Square, Truax Hotel, Uptown Temecula specific plan, Winchester Hills, and a newly proposed traffic subcommittee.

Commissioners discussed potential conflicts of interest and availability before confirming members. For example, Commissioner Hagel volunteered to remove himself from the Linfield subcommittee due to proximity to the project area and to take assignments on Old Town and Uptown; other commissioners traded or relinquished assignments so each vacancy could be covered. The full slate of assignments was moved, seconded and approved 5-0.

The leadership and committee changes take effect immediately and aim to give the commission stable oversight as staff and consultants advance the city’s multi‑year planning work.

The commission’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2026, at 10 a.m.
