Engineers report: Dunn County paving nearly complete, multiple bids and a transportation grant application underway

County engineering staff told commissioners that the Dunn Center paving on 98th and 4th Street is close to final payout, with a few quantities remaining to verify before recommending final payment. Jeremy (engineer) said Pinewood Meadows and the “3 T” project have outstanding punch‑list items that must be resolved before final payment.
Bronco Brothers’ work on 10th Street/113th Avenue/7th Street is suspended for the winter; the paving phase was bid at the last meeting but will not resume until spring. Jeremy estimated paving for that project would likely begin midsummer or later. He said several design projects are expected to advertise spring bid openings (February for one project if easements are finalized).
Engineering staff also reported the county submitted a Transportation Alternatives application on Dec. 31 and received letters of support from local stakeholders including the school and Saddle Club. Commissioners asked about the source of unexpectedly low paving bid numbers; Jeremy attributed roughly $1,000,000 in lower costs to cheaper asphalt oil and lower aggregate quantities on a relatively “clean” high-volume project.
Staff asked to advertise bids for gravel, scoria and dust‑control supplies with openings slated for Feb. 18. Darren (road staff) noted remaining landowner negotiations and cultural resources review affecting 2026–2027 projects and said some 2027 projects are being held for later work.
