Commission adopts Palm Beach County 2026 federal agenda, seeks earmarks for airport, water and beach projects

Staff said the agenda supports legislation to set aside 10% of federal funds for farm-to-market roads, seeks grants and earmarks for Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA) and North County Airport (including security improvements), and requests funding for water treatment plant upgrades to address PFAS contamination. The agenda also includes beach renourishment priorities and work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on easement interpretation, along with earmarks for Australian Avenue and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard bridge projects.
In public‑safety priorities staff noted ongoing work to obtain FEMA reimbursements for police and fire overtime related to presidential protection and losses tied to TFRs at Lantana Airport. Housing priorities include support for the Road to Housing Act and updated HUD household income formulas. Staff said the county will pursue community project funding during the appropriations window in early spring and will meet with the congressional delegation and their staff in late February.
The commission voted unanimously to adopt the federal agenda.
