The Collingswood Board of Education opened its reorganization meeting by reading municipal election returns and swearing in newly elected members. The presiding official read into the record: 'mister Ryan Deasy getting 1,114 votes, Ms. Brown with 286, and mister Guenther at 272,' and asked the three winners to be sworn in.
Superintendent Dr. McDowell then read the board member code of ethics, citing 'New Jersey, statute 18 8 12 dash 24.1,' instructing members to 'uphold and enforce all laws, rules, and regulations' and to prioritize the educational welfare of children.
Board members nominated leadership for the coming year. 'I nominate Rich Talby for president,' a member said; a motion to cast a unanimous vote for president was moved and seconded and Talby was elected by roll call. Therese Marmion was nominated and elected vice president after indicating she accepted the nomination.
The newly elected officers will assume their duties for the new organizational year. The board noted the code of ethics and the elected leadership as the meeting transitioned to routine business.
