This is the most popular you’ll ever be,” she said while recounting advice from a former council president.
Multiple councilors and community members who spoke in support cited her committee experience, prior service as finance chair and her record of outreach. Several said they value her facilitation style and commitment to accessibility and transparency.
The council conducted an oral roll-call-style vote in which members named the candidate they supported; Maiori accepted the office after the result was called.
The council then moved on to other organizational business, including vice-presidential elections, committee appointments and rule adoptions.
The next regular meeting of the full council is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2026.
