Director Carlo said the committee unanimously approved a simple amendment that removes five words from the policy preamble. He read the proposed language for the public record, framing the amendment as aligning existing practice with the policy: "in accordance with the federal omnibus pertinent state and federal laws promulgated to effectuate a drug and alcohol free workplace, the board is committed to the establishment of an alcohol and controlled substance testing program for school bus drivers in addition to any other employees who drive vehicles to transport students."
Director Carlo and Superintendent Gleason both clarified that the committee considered the amendment at its scheduled 12/15/2025 meeting as part of the district's five-year policy review cycle. Carlo stated explicitly that the amendment "did not" arise from or in response to the December 16 bus accident.
Resolution 16 was presented for first reading; no final vote was recorded at this meeting.
