Board hears first reading to spend ~$87,003 from capital reserve to replace district finance software

At a finance-and-operations first reading, the RSU 06 business office urged the board to authorize capital-reserve funds to replace the district's aging financial software.
Miss Pooler, speaking for the business office, said the district has used ProFund for years but the product is effectively end-of-life and is producing glitches the vendor can no longer fix. After workshopping two major contenders used by other Maine districts (Harris School Solutions' App to Fund and Tyler Technologies' School ERP Pro), the business office recommended Tyler's product.
"The cost to the district is an outlay of $87,003.65 dollars and 48¢," Miss Pooler said, adding that a conversion date in January 2027 would allow the district a year to prepare for migration. She said the new product would consolidate some existing products, reduce maintenance/support fees over time and is expected to save about $75,000 annually after the first year.
Director Sargent introduced the resolution (Resolution 17) for first reading; no adoption vote was recorded in open session. The item will return to the board for second reading and possible approval at a future meeting.
Board members were invited to send questions to Miss Bullard or Director Sargent ahead of that second reading.
