Diana Irie Vaughn, introduced as a former Washington County commissioner and president and CEO of the Washington City Mission, emceed the event and welcomed attendees. She named local dignitaries in attendance, including Board of Commissioners Chairman Nick Sherman, Commissioner Larry Maggi, Coroner Tim Warko, Clerk of Courts Ray Phillips, Canonsburg Mayor Dave Rome and former State Senator Tim Salovey. Vaughn also led an invocation, saying, "Dear lord, we thank you for this day."
President Judge Valerie Costanzo presided over the oath ceremonies. To begin the formal swearing-in, Costanzo asked those taking oaths to "Please raise your right hand and repeat after me." Heather Shetler took the oath for her first full elected term as Washington County controller with her hand on her grandmother's Bible; family members and former colleagues attended. Carrie Ferrell was sworn in for a second term as recorder of deeds, and Tony Andronis took the oath to begin his second term as county sheriff; relatives and law-enforcement leaders were listed among attendees.
Commissioner Larry Maggi, a Marine Corps veteran, led the Pledge of Allegiance earlier in the program. Organizers announced a reception immediately following the ceremony in the Judge's Law Library. The judge closed the proceedings by thanking those present.
The ceremony focused on the formal administration of oaths and recognition of officials and guests; no legislative actions or votes were recorded during the event.
