Bama Health Foods announces Nourish Grocer opening on Birmingham's West Side

Councilor Sonia Smith introduced Jackie Pasikas Varner of Bama Health Foods during the Dec. 2 meeting to announce the grand opening of Nourish Grocer at 1923 Bessemer Road. Varner said the store will carry only healthy items, highlight local vendors and offer programming to educate customers about nutrition and managing chronic illness.
Varner said the store will hold a grand opening Saturday with 25 health-and-wellness boxes distributed first-come, first-served, and a schedule of activities through the opening week. Councilors praised the investment in West Side grocery options and encouraged residents to attend.
The announcement was presented by council unanimous consent and drew brief congratulations from the mayor's office representative and councilors.
