Several residents used the meeting’s call to the public to press the city for action on homelessness and related service gaps.
John Pettit, who said he represents Church Without Walls, told council members: "The homeless are not taken care of." Pettit alleged Catholic Charities had turned people away when he sought showers, rest and support for people experiencing homelessness, and asked the council to consider the issue and meet again next month or sooner to pursue solutions.
Another resident, who identified himself as "Scotty from Bowhead," criticized local police reporting practices and recounted difficulty obtaining collision photos and body‑camera footage; he expressed frustration with response times and record fees. His remarks included profane language but focused on perceived failures in record detail and timeliness.
The city did not take action on these public comments during the meeting. The mayor closed call to the public after the speakers concluded. Pettit explicitly asked to meet with the council again to further discuss homelessness and services; that request remained on the record for follow-up.
