Council considered no public comment on the item and approved the resolution 7–0. City staff said the MOU reflects existing operational cooperation and will be executed with county partners.
The resolution does not change city law; rather it formalizes interagency procedures and the role of assigned federal agents within the task force. Chief Sharp said the arrangement is intended to "enhance our ability to stem the flow of illegal drugs coming across the border." No conditions or financial commitments specific to the city were described in the presentation; staff noted the program is countywide and HSI sits on a regional board.
Council action authorizes the city manager and police department to finalize and implement the MOU and coordinate necessary interagency steps.
