Bullhead City Council voted unanimously to authorize a one‑time contribution of $25,000 to the Bullhead Regional Food Bank, transferring funds from the city's contingency account to help meet increased demand during the holiday season.
City Manager outlined the request after receiving reports of higher client volumes during a recent federal government shutdown. Terry Tomlinson (Legacy Foundation) and Steven Brown (Bullhead Regional Food Bank) addressed the council and provided operational statistics: last year the food bank served 34,103 verified families (77,466 individuals), during the recent crisis it served 7,121 families in a month (17,231 individuals), and 53% of clients are 60 or older. Tomlinson said staff served 390 clients in a single day during the shutdown and that volunteers were stretched.
Council members who visited the food bank described efficient intake procedures and high demand; Vice Mayor said he and another council member spent a day observing service and expressed support for the allocation. Public commenters praised the food bank’s management and urged council support.
The council approved the $25,000 transfer 7–0. Staff and food‑bank representatives said the funding is intended to support income‑qualified clients during the holiday season; the city directed the manager to transfer contingency funds accordingly.
