Jeff Tipton reported to the council that a Dec. 18 homeless-outreach detail deployed three teams, made contact with 19 people experiencing homelessness, transported 12 to Catholic Charities and other resource partners, and that six of those transported enrolled in housing or other services. Tipton said representatives from WestCare, Terros, Southwest Behavioral, Mohave Mental and Catholic Charities participated; two or three police corporals and BackUP staff accompanied outreach teams. He said one warrant arrest occurred during the operation but described the initiative overall as successful and positive.
City staff reiterated that Bullhead City enforces a no-camping ordinance and that sleeping in parks during the day is not allowed; they said enforcement actions can include park revocation and arrest when applicable. Tipton framed outreach as continuing and said another detail will be scheduled and the city will report back to the council on results.
