Joliet — The council’s pre-council review on Monday included three liquor-license applications that staff placed on the Jan. 6 agenda for approval.
Staff said Casa Katrina at 50 East Jefferson St. would be issued a Class B license for on‑premises consumption. Two Sharks Fish and Chicken locations were listed for Class D licenses, which staff said allow beer and wine for on‑premises consumption.
An owner of Sharks who spoke at the podium confirmed seating counts when asked by councilmembers: "24" seats at one location and "12" at another. Staff clarified licensing categories for the benefit of viewers, noting Class B permits the service of mixed drinks while Class D permits beer and wine only.
The items were placed on the consent agenda for council consideration at the Jan. 6 meeting; the owner asked staff whether the city had performed any site checks regarding calls for service and was told there was no report on calls for the Crest Hill location.
Next steps: the council will consider these license applications at its Jan. 6 meeting; any councilmember may request removal from the consent agenda for separate public consideration.
