Christian County commissioners voted Jan. 9 to award the county’s fuel‑card contract to WEX by piggybacking on the Missouri state contract CC260007001.
Kim, the county’s purchasing manager, told commissioners the WEX agreement provides net billing of federal excise tax and applicable state, local and county taxes for participating merchants and that most county departments that operate vehicles already use the cards. "We recommend that you award the contract to WEX using the state of Missouri contract number CC260007001," Kim said.
A commissioner asked whether the contract covers emergency and fire vehicles. Kim said the arrangement applies to county‑owned vehicles, including sheriff’s county vehicles, but not to the fire department or the primary ambulance service.
A motion to approve the contract was made and seconded; commissioners recorded aye votes and approved the motion.
Why it matters: The contract governs how county vehicles are fueled and how taxes and billing are handled, which can affect departmental operations and accounting.
What’s next: Staff will implement the state contract terms for county cardholders and confirm enrollment for eligible county vehicles.
