Brockton School Committee names Mayor Moises Rodriguez chair; Claudia Gomes elected vice chair

Members also voted to revert several committees that had been operating as committees of the whole back to four-member subcommittees — including facilities usage and planning, accounts review, and security, safety and transportation — a change proponents said would redistribute leadership duties and reduce the chair’s burden.
Under the consent agenda the committee accepted a $5,000 donation for an after‑school STEM coding club. The motion was made, seconded and approved by roll call, and the chair thanked the donor.
No substantive policy votes beyond organizational items were taken. The meeting concluded with announcements about upcoming student events and a motion to adjourn that passed by roll call.
