Officials noted the expected local shortfall would be small — roughly $8,258 — and discussed options for covering that remainder, including FCDC support or city contributions. Staff said the solid waste department and other county resources are coordinating on project scope and that next steps include MOUs from the federal and state agencies and internal agreements with the cities of Ottawa and Wellsville.
County leaders praised the intergovernmental work that produced the award and emphasized the grant’s safety focus. A county official described the grant work as targeting crosswalk improvements in Ottawa, pedestrian and signage work in Wellsville and flood monitoring and sensor deployments in rural locations to better detect high water and automate road closure messaging.
