Hardin County meeting sets Jan. 28 hearing for FY25-26 budget amendment, approves claims and routine reports

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and brief greetings. The presiding speaker asked to add a resolution rescission to the agenda; a board member (Speaker 2) moved to approve the revised agenda and Speaker 3 seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The board approved minutes for Dec. 31, 2025, and Jan. 2, 2026. A motion to approve claims for payment for the Jan. 6–7, 2026 period was introduced by Speaker 2 and seconded by Speaker 3; the motion passed after a voice vote. The presiding speaker then introduced a motion to rescind an earlier resolution; Speaker 2 moved the rescission, Speaker 3 seconded, and the roll call showed the motion carried.
The board set a public hearing on the fiscal year 2025–26 budget amendment for Jan. 28 at 9:02 a.m. in the large conference room at the Hardin County Courthouse. The presiding speaker said the hearing date was being reissued because the previously published notice listed the wrong year in local newspapers. "I make a motion to approve the setting the time and date for January 28 09:02AM in the large conference room in the Hardin County Courthouse for the public hearing for the fiscal year 25 26 budget amendment," a board member said during the meeting.
The board also acknowledged receipt of the recorder's report for December 2025 and the auditor's report for December 2025 by unanimous votes.
Under business, Speaker 3 (who identified herself as Renee) told the group she had missed several recent meetings after a fall on an icy driveway and subsequent wrist surgery and that she would participate by phone in the interim. "I have not been at the last few meetings due to a fall on my icy driveway," Renee said.
A brief discussion followed about enforcing an ordinance concerning reflectors; the presiding speaker said the county could adopt an ordinance but noted enforcement would be difficult because it can be hard to determine who removed or replaced items and how to enforce compliance. The meeting ended after a motion to adjourn passed by voice vote.
Next procedural step: the public hearing on the fiscal-year 2025–26 budget amendment is scheduled for Jan. 28 at 9:02 a.m.; the board will consider public comment at that hearing.
