Shelton Police swears in Officer Steven Heath

Shelton Police introduced and sworn in Officer Steven Heath at the Jan. 6 council meeting. Staff said Heath graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy last year with a class score above 90% and holds a bachelor's degree and a master's certificate in business administration; he previously served with the Federal Way Police Department and was hired by Shelton last month.
Officer Heath recited the oath on the council dais: "I do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Washington and to abide by the code of ethics of the Shelton Police Department, and I will faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of police officer." City leaders welcomed him and staff noted he is progressing well in his training program.
