Old Mill School students tell council they raised $979.50 for Red Cross bake sale

Members of the Old Mill School Student Council visited the City Council to report a community fundraiser and to thank the mayor and council for their support.
"I'm Hannah Hayes for the publicity director of the Old Mill Student Council," said Hannah Hayes, who explained the council decided to raise money for wildfire relief in Los Angeles after researching charities and selecting the Red Cross. She and student officers said more than 50 families baked goods on short notice for the sale at the Depot Plaza on Monday, Jan. 27, and that the effort raised $979.50.
Other student-council officers introduced themselves at the meeting and the mayor invited them forward for a photograph. The council received cookies and the students thanked Mayor Burke and the city for the opportunity to report on their projects.
Whathappens next: The students left the council with a recognition photo; funds were designated for the Red Cross as stated by the students.
