Rexburg council backs TAP grant match for Teton River path extension

Public Works Director Keith Davidson told the council the project would continue an existing trail, add a pedestrian bridge near planned park construction and create a loop for walkers. Davidson estimated the total project cost at roughly $600,000 and said the city’s 7.34% local match would be a little over $45,000 if the grant is awarded.
Mayor (unnamed) and councilmembers moved and seconded a resolution (2026-03) affirming the city has the match funds and authorizing the application. The motion passed by voice vote.
In the same item, staff notified the council they plan to surplus five HP printers acquired during COVID; the surplus motion was approved.
Davidson and staff said they will return with any subsequent contract documents and grant award details for council review if the TAP application is successful.
