Milton council swears in judge, names mayor pro tem and fills boards

At its Jan. 5 meeting Milton's council reappointed Keith A. Carnesale as chief municipal judge, named Doug Haney mayor pro tem and unanimously approved dozens of board and advisory committee appointments across planning, zoning, parks, trails and other committees.
The Milton City Council used its Jan. 5 meeting to swearing in officials and to fill municipal boards and advisory committees.
Mayor Peyton Jamieson formally announced the reappointment of Keith A. Carnesale as chief judge of the Municipal Court for a four-year term; the council approved the resolution unanimously and Carnesale took the oath of office. "I will honestly and faithfully discharge the duties of...as chief judge of the municipal court of the city of Milton," the judge repeated during the oath.
Councilors also nominated and approved Doug Haney as mayor pro tempore. The council carried a series of unanimous votes to appoint or reappoint members to multiple boards, including the Board of Zoning Appeals (Josh Rachel, Adam Danella, Lauren Holmes, Billy Carmen), the Design Review Board (Ken Warlick, Samia Coker, David Jackson, Ralph Davia), the Equestrian Committee, Sustainability Advisory Committee, Milton Trails Advisory Committee, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Planning Commission and the Milton Citizens Advisory Committee for the 2040 comprehensive plan. Several appointees joined council members at the front of the chamber for group oaths and photos.
The actions were largely unanimous; council repeatedly noted the value of volunteer service and asked staff to arrange future swearing-in as needed for members not present.
