Judge Grants Stepparent Adoption; Teenager Says He Agrees

The judge explained the legal consequences of adoption and parental obligations, saying the parent ‘‘would be the same as if he was your biological child,’’ and then granted the adoption, stating, ‘‘So we will grant your adoption.’’ The court noted that all necessary consents were in the file and congratulated the family; counsel was asked to prepare and submit a final order.
The ruling puts the child’s legal status on the same footing as a biological child and requires counsel to file the order that will make the adoption final.
The docket moved on after the judge signed the order and directed counsel to submit the document for entry.
