LaSalle County approves several routine land‑use petitions, including farmstead split and accessory dwelling unit

County land‑use presenter Brian Gift summarized each petition and noted that the zoning board of appeals had recommended approval for 25‑27 (Kobilsick Trust farmstead split) and 25‑28 (Gavin accessory dwelling unit, with a septic‑system condition), and had recommended approval for the setback variance 25‑04.
The Rose Kobilsick Trust petition (25‑27) would split off approximately an 8.45‑acre farmstead parcel; Gift said the request exceeded a typical two‑acre farmstead split and therefore required a special use under the county zoning ordinance. The motion to approve carried unanimously.
The Gavin petition (25‑28) sought a special use to construct an accessory dwelling unit at 2797 North 45 50th Road in Northville Township; the ZBA recommended approval with a condition that the petitioner follow LaSalle County Health Department recommendations for septic installation. The board approved the petition with that condition.
The board also granted a variance (25‑04) to reduce a south side‑yard setback from 10 feet to 5 feet to allow construction of a detached garage at the property listed in the petition; the ZBA recommended approval and the county board carried the motion.
All three motions were made and seconded on the floor and passed by voice/roll call as noted in the official minutes.
