The finance committee voted to forward Bill 106 to council with a favorable recommendation. The bill appropriates $1,494,623.34 in federal Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) COVID-19 passthrough funds to the county’s ERA passthrough account to reflect reimbursement for funds administered locally.
Assistant Housing staff explained these funds were passed from the state and that “it needed to be spent by September 30,” meaning the county is receiving reimbursement for expenditures already made under the ERA program. Committee members asked whether similar funding streams can be expected in future; staff said ERA was a one-time funding source and no further guaranteed federal passthroughs are known at this time. Staff noted continued housing-stability services remain available through the local provider for people who received assistance.
The committee recorded nine members in favor and none opposed; Bill 106 will move to the full council for formal action.
