Committee sets 2026 meeting dates; staff reports StreetSense contract timing and holiday-lighting plans

Bothell — The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee discussed and provisionally set its quarterly meeting schedule for 2026 and received several staff reports on vendor contracts and downtown activations.
Committee members discussed the required minimum frequency of meetings and the timing of budget conversations. Speaker 2 recommended quarterly meetings and the group discussed dates: January 20, March 17 and May 19 were floated; the committee later recorded September 15 and November 17 as the additional fall dates to meet the minimum four meetings per year and to align with budget work.
On vendor contracting, Speaker 2 said the contract with StreetSense is a two-year contract covering 2025–26 with an anticipated expiration in June; staff noted the contract timing will affect budget conversations in the coming year.
Speaker 2 also reviewed holiday plans: hotel/motel tax funds will cover pole lighting along Main Street (from Moggle Way to 104th and along SR 522 to Reader Way) with an installation date of Nov. 17 and displays expected to remain through January. Parks staff will add tree lighting and a special holiday installation at a park site; staff said they may activate evenings with family-oriented features such as hot chocolate to encourage visits.
