Revere Cultural Council approves 24 projects, plans summer awards event

On Jan. 8, 2026, the Revere City Cultural Council approved 24 community projects and began planning a summer awards ceremony, reserving $853 in administrative funds to help stage the event, Vice Chair Jamie said at the meeting.

The approvals covered a mix of school, senior-center and community events. "Revere Public Schools received $23,687," said Doug, a council member who presented a breakdown of grant amounts. He also reported that Immaculate Conception, a private school in Revere, received $1,500; senior-center projects received $6,290; Mass General Youth Zone received $520; and general community events received $10,250.

Jamie said denied applicants were notified and given a 15-day appeal window; written notifications for approved proposals will be mailed, and two awardees—Delvina Theater Company (for Bon Voyage and Meet Julia Childs events) and the City of Revere’s Rare Beach Pride celebration—had been notified verbally and will receive letters from the council chair by the end of the week.

On event planning, Jamie said the council kept an administrative fee of $853 to put toward a summer awards event and asked members to volunteer to research low-cost or donated venues. "We did keep only about $853," she said, noting the council wanted to give most funds to projects while still hosting a recognition event. Members discussed options including parks or school grounds to reduce costs and agreed to reconvene in March to continue planning.

A motion to skip the February meeting and reconvene March 12 was made and seconded and accepted by the council. Jamie closed the meeting at 6:10 p.m.

The council asked awardees to submit event photos and feedback through a link included with notifications so the council can showcase projects on its social channels; members also said they would attend events when schedules permit.
