Guadalupe County Commissioners Court on Nov. 18 moved through a packed agenda, approving a public hearing for a landfill-ordinance amendment, awarding a road-contract, extending the county burn ban and adopting several budget amendments and procurement actions.
Waste Management of Texas asked the court to amend the county's landfill-siting ordinance to include 259 contiguous acres adjacent to the Mesquite Creek Landfill as a designated acceptable area. The court authorized publication of notice and set a public hearing for Dec. 16, 2025. "We want additional buffer and also a portion of this property in the future to be used as we continue to grow," Bubba Smith, representing Waste Management, told the court.
