The action follows recognition of outgoing elections administrator Lisa Hayes for 18 years of county service; Hayes’ last day is Dec. 5.
The court said the interim appointment will preserve continuity as the county’s elections commission moves quickly to advertise and interview for the permanent position in early January. The judge said the elections commission planned to run an ad and hold interviews Jan. 6 or 7. Commissioners approved the interim appointment by motion and voice vote.
The court directed staff to finalize the job posting and indicated the interim appointment could last several months while the search proceeds.
