Aransas County approves grant application to boost adoption events, moves to closed session on pending litigation

The Aransas County Commissioners Court on a January morning voted to approve submission of a grant application intended to fund animal-adoption events, outreach and related promotional costs in Rockport, then voted to convene a closed session to discuss multiple pending lawsuits and contractual issues related to a downtown anchor project.

The court approved a motion, as moved by an unidentified member and seconded, authorizing an application by "Hudders County Bridal Care Services" for the Rockport community shop grant to be used for educational community outreach, advertising and adoption promotion. Animal-services staff told the court the grant would pay for event equipment, promotional materials and supplies so the county would not have to ask taxpayers for new funding.
