Mister Teal read the resolution’s text, recounting the Navy’s origins in 1775 and its growth to a global force. Council members noted the Navy’s deep local roots, including Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport, and invited representatives from local installations to the dais.
Commander Bruce Gardner delivered the invocation earlier in the meeting and later joined the dais for the resolution presentation. Captains Ryan Dexter (NAS Jacksonville) and Mike Trimble (Naval Station Mayport) attended and were thanked for their service. Council speakers emphasized the economic and social contributions of military families and naval installations to Jacksonville.
The resolution was adopted by voice vote and council members posed for photographs with the naval representatives.
