The Jonesboro City Council on Nov. 18 approved a resolution requesting City Water & Light (CWL) to commit an annual contribution of $600,000 in 2025 and $600,000 in 2026 to help fund two new fire vehicles: a replacement aerial ladder (quoted price $1,558,852) and a replacement pumper (quoted price $860,915), for an estimated combined cost of $2,419,767.
Council documents said the department reviewed apparatus pricing and delivery timelines and intends to sell replaced units through a listing agent with sale proceeds returned to the depreciation fund. Council noted that $625,000 had been appropriated in the 2024 depreciation fund and another $625,000 would be appropriated in the 2025 depreciation fund.
A council member recorded a recusal from discussion and vote because of service on a related board; the clerk noted the recusal on the record and the resolution carried on the council vote. The council will present a future resolution to approve the actual purchase upon final vendor selection and financing arrangements.
